What are user permission overrides in a CRM?
User permission overrides are custom permissions set for one person that take the place of their role's defaults. The role still sets the starting point, and the override changes it for that person only. In CIPHER CRM this means you do not have to create a new role every time someone's job is a little different from their teammates'.
In CIPHER CRM, permissions start with roles. Every staff member inherits the grid of the role they are given, with View, Create, Edit and Delete set across the areas of the CRM. That keeps access consistent for people doing the same job. Real teams are not that tidy, though. A senior sales rep may also handle refunds, or a coordinator may cover for the accounts clerk on Fridays. Permission overrides handle those cases. You grant one person custom permissions on their own profile, and the role itself stays the same, so nobody else who holds it gains or loses anything. Without overrides, the usual fix is to clone a role for one person, and after a year you have a role for every name on the team. With overrides, roles stay few and clear, and exceptions sit with the person they belong to. CIPHER CRM is used by 192+ businesses, and overrides come in every plan.
