What is lead conversion in a CRM?
Lead conversion is the step where a possible buyer becomes a customer in your records. In a CRM it means moving the person or company out of your leads and into your customers while keeping what you already know about them. Done well, it happens once, with no retyping and without creating a second copy of someone you already serve.
CIPHER CRM converts a lead to a customer with one click. At that moment it looks for an existing customer with the same email address. If it finds one, it tells you and lets you choose between merging the lead into that customer or creating a new customer anyway, so you do not end up with two records for the same buyer. Either way, the lead's contacts, address, currency and assignees carry across to the customer record. If you try to convert a proposal that was sent to a lead, CIPHER CRM first asks you to convert that lead into a customer, so the estimate or invoice that follows belongs to a proper customer record. After conversion the lead files itself into a collapsed Customer group in your lead list, which keeps closed deals away from the ones still open. Your pipeline stays tidy and each buyer appears in your customer list once.
